Biochrom 30 Physiological (IVD approved)

Designed for metabolic disorder screening and clinical research

Suitable for: hospitals, paediatric labs, clinical institutions, contract analysis labs, clinical research

Uses of the system

Analysis of plasma, urine, and cerebrospinal fluid

          Health screening for metabolic disorders

The diagnosis and treatment of various disorders are greatly advanced using amino acid analysis. Many of the illnesses caused by inborn errors of metabolism (IEM) can be identified by amino acid analysis of urine, cerebrospinal fluid and blood plasma. Early detection in newborn infants allows necessary treatment to be applied rapidly. Rapid screening of large numbers of samples for specific amino acids can be performed 24 hours per day.

Biochrom has a large number of clinical users worldwide ranging from research labs, children's hospitals and regional centres, to large national reference laboratories.

Biochrom takes part in the ERNDIM scheme. The goal of ERNDIM is to reach a consensus between Biochemical Genetics Centres on reliable and standardised procedures for diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of inherited metabolic diseases. This is achieved through provision of quality control schemes. In 2005, 182 laboratories from 26 countries submitted results within the scheme. A copy of Biochrom's 2005 ERNDIM certificate can be found below.

Programmes for both full amino acid profiles and for specific amino acids (short programmes) are available. Examples of these include programmes for PKU, MSUD, sulphocysteine, and homocysteine.

Sample physiological chromatograms are available, email support@biochrom.co.uk for further information.

Biochrom has a large number of applications notes covering a range of areas.
